Mr. Walter E. Lowell, 81, of Franklin, died at the VA Medical Center in Manchester on August 23, 2012. He was born in Windsor, VT on October 23, 1930 the son of Wayland and Francese (Washburn) Lowell. Mr. Lowell was raised in Bristol and Franklin and following his military career resided in Franklin for several years. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1948. Walter served in the US Air Force for 20 years during the Korean War and The Vietnam War. He was an aircraft mechanic and attained the rank of Staff Sgt. Following his military service, he worked as a correctional officer and NH State Prison. He was a member of DeWitt Clinton Masonic Lodge in Sandwich, MA. Walter was a NASCAR fan especially both Dale Earnhardt Senior and Junior. He enjoyed his coffee time at Favorites Restaurant and the Franklin McDonald's. Family members include two children, Joseph D. Lowell of Moultonborough, NH and Kathleen Klima of Aurora, CO, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Olive Lowell of Denver, CO, and nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 28 from 6-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin, NH. Burial will be in Homeland Cemetery, Bristol, NH.
