Vincent Mulligan

Belmont, NH Mr. Vincent A. Mulligan, 80, formerly of Belmont, died at NH Veterans Home on July 16, 2015. Vinnie was born in Union City, NJ on Dec. 1, 1934 the son of Henry and Kathlyn (Sullivan) Mulligan. He was raised in Elizabeth and later resided in Haslet, NJ. Vinnie and his wife, the late Barbara (Slavin) Mulligan who died in 2012, resided in Barnstead and Laconia before moving to Belmont in 1989. He served in the US Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. prior to discharge in 1962. Vinnie was a graduate of Seton Hall University earning a Bachelor of Arts and later Master of Arts. From 1959 through 1972, he taught at St. Patrick High School, Jefferson High School, and St. Mary High School, all in Elizabeth, NJ. After moving to NH, he was property manager at Locke Lake in Barnstead, facility Manager at Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim, and was Center Director of NH College in Laconia. From 1987 until 1995, he worked for the State Of NH Youth Services Center as a counselor. He then worked for the State as a social worker with the Division of Elderly and Adult Services. Vinnie was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1958. A Fourth Degree Knight, he was currently a member and Past Grand Knight of the Robert Leroux Council #10943 in Belmont and a member of Knights of Columbus Assembly 638 in Tilton. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Belmont where he was a lector. His Catholicism and love for God was an integral part of a life lived sharing with others. Well read, he had a great love for literature and poetry, but second was his ardent love of sports. An avid Boston fan since his youth, he could quote statistics from any Red Sox, Patriot or Celtic game and could track his beloved Seaton Hall teams with the same fervor. Vinnie always had a dog and his beloved Pebbles shared the last years of his life until they were unable to take care of each other. He is survived by his brother, Richard F. Mulligan of Newtown, CT, nieces, Oona Mulligan and Megan Husband, a nephew, Lt. Colonel Kevin Mulligan, and many friends. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield from 6-8:00 pm. A recitation of the rosary lead by the Knights of Columbus will begin at 7:30. All are welcome to join. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 24th, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church in Belmont. Interment will follow at NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
