Thomas Edward Jordan

July 20, 1952 — November 26, 2023

Thomas E. Jordan,71, of Northfield, N.H. passed away on Sunday, November 26,2023 at Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord after a six year fight with lung cancer. Tom was born on July 20,1952, the youngest of eight children born to William and Clara (Osgood) Jordan of Concord, N.H.
Although Tom was only 15 when his dad passed away, he learned many important life lessons from him and was often heard quoting some of his sayings. His dad taught him the value of hard work, paying your bills on time, staying on the right side of the law, save all of your receipts, and to treat people with respect. His first job was at the age of 13 at A&W in Concord as a dishwasher. From then on he held many jobs in widely varied fields. From these various jobs Tom has learned how to recap tires, operate construction equipment, assemble mobile homes, build modular homes, do landscaping, make orange juice, build roads, auto detailing and restoration, and building his own homes. Tom paid close attention to every last detail of every job he ever had. He took much pride in his work and was very humble of praise that resulted from an exceptional job done.
Tom's great joys in life were his children, grandchildren, his two 1965 Corvettes, his 1956 GMC truck, his tractor, his winter home in Florida, and his wood lot in Center Harbor. He loved to brag that he never had to buy wood! He was known as Tom Terrific by his wife Laurie because he could fix anything, no matter how hopeless it looked. He even fixed a porta potty that got crushed by a tree!
Tom was a very funny guy. His sense of humor often bordered on the goofy side and it was guaranteed that he would leave you laughing for days. While Tom never liked to be the center of attention, he often was due to his zany antics, especially his Tommysaults! If you know Tom, you know what these are.
While Tom was skilled at many things, his approach in getting the job done was not always up to OSHA standards, as his son Matt, a civil engineer, quite often pointed out to him. Projects around the house made wife Laurie very leery of what was to come. Many times she would question his methods concerning safety. His response was always, " Laurie, please, I know what I am doing." MOST times there were no injuries!
His daughter Amy wants to let everyone know that her dad lived to share his skills, experiences, and places he loved with his children. They all learned many things from him that has enabled them to lead successful lives. His son Kevin would like to share that his happiest times with dad were helping dad with his multiple building projects that spanned many years. Kevin learned quite a bit when dad decided to live in his small house and build a complete new house around that! Their latest project was just this summer, tearing down an old dilapidated part of his garage. They turned it into a beautiful covered patio.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, his sister Marylon Butterfield and her husband Wally, their son, Mark Butterfield, his sister Cynthia Lamy and her husband Dick, and their sons Jeff and Jamie Lamy, his sister Sandra Dallaire, his sister Janice Phillips and her husband Don, his brother John and his son Johnny. He is survived by his wife, Laurie ( MacDonald) Jordan, His children, Amy Farnum and her husband Doug of Chichester, Matthew Jordan and his wife Elizabeth of Mt. Airy, MD, Kevin Jordan and his wife Dr. Hannah Lust of Trenton, Me. and a stepson Dean MacDonald and his wife Misty of Laconia , NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kailer, Wyatt, and Xander Jordan and Makenna, Kayla, and Braden MacDonald. Tom is also survived by his brothers Kenneth Jordan and wife Joyce of Venice, Florida, Michael (Mickey) Jordan and wife Rachel of Bentonville Arkansas, brothers-in-law Paul Dallaire and partner Nina of Concord, David MacDonald of New Hampton, Rodney MacDonald and partner Dolly of Meredith, and Gary MacDonald and partner Cheryl of Warren, NH., sisters-in-law Beth MacDonald and partner Leslie Dickey of Alexandria, Patricia Lance of Center Harbor, and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Taylor and her husband, Jim of New Hampton, and several nieces and nephews..
Per Tom's wishes, there will be a graveside service on a warm day in the spring, followed by one hell of a celebration of life at their home in Northfield. Paquette-Neun Funeral Home at 104 Park St Northfield is assisting the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Granite VNA and Hospice in Concord, N.H.
