"Mike" Leighton, Sr., 54, of Northfield, died at his home with his companion, Laura, by his side on Dec. 3, 2015. He was born in Franklin on Dec. 28, 1960 the son of Robert L. Leighton and Marilyn (Eastman) Leighton. Robert was raised in Franklin where he lived for several years. As a child, he was active in the 4H. He was employed by The Laborers Post 109 in Indianapolis. He was last employed at Plantec in Belmont. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Family members include his companion, Laura DeJoseph of Northfield, 2 sons: Robert M. Leighton, Jr. and his fiancé Jen of Portland, ME, and Michael Leighton of NY, 2 daughters: Rebecca Leighton of Laconia and Cinnamon Leighton of SC, 3 grandchildren, Angel of West Franklin, and Blake and Nolin of Portland, ME, 3 sisters: Barbara Moulton of Franklin, Sally Millington of NY, and Andrea Leighton of Northfield, 2 brothers: John Leighton and Matthew Leighton, both of Franklin, and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lori (Conrad) Leighton. Funeral services will be held in the spring.
