Like many in her family, she left school after eighth grade to help support her family. While raising five children, she returned to school and earned a GED. As a “Grammy,” she would knit scarves every Christmas for all the first graders. Her interests included Big Band music, classic films, and crossword puzzles. She was very patriotic and was a long-term member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
