He was born in Franklin on May 29, 1934 the son of Forrest and Eva (Clement) Sargent. Mr. Sargent was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1953 and was a lifelong Franklin resident. Mr. Sargent was a master woodworker including building custom cabinets and restoring furniture. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan. He enjoyed yards sales and restoring many of the items he found. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Louise (Judkins) Sargent of Franklin, 3 children, Gregory W. Sargent and his companion Kathleen McCall of Franklin, Richard A. Sargent II and wife Patricia of Sunderland, VT, and Gaylene Bernasconi and husband Troy of Bristol, 4 grandchildren, Alexander Sargent and wife Elizabeth, Patrick Sargent, Felicia Berube, and Blair Berube, 2 great grandchildren, Madeline Sargent and Joseph Sargent, 3 brothers: Leo Sargent, Forrest "Skip" Sargent Jr., and Doug Sargent, all of Franklin, 3 sisters: Eleanor LeBlanc, Barbara Morrill, and Sandi Bleggi, all of Franklin, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Rose Sargent and Irene Pickard, and a brother Clayton Sargent. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17th from 6-8 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Sanbornton (Rte 127). Spring burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Sargent may be made to The Camp Sentinel Scholarship Fund ( for children of the First Baptist Church to go to camp), PO Box 80, Sanbornton, NH 03269.
