Richard Martin

December 13, 1945 — April 29, 2016

Mr. Richard P. Martin, 70, of Franklin, died at Merrimack County Nursing Home on April 29, 2016. He was born in Lynn, MA on Dec. 13, 1945 the son of Leo J. Martin and Rita (LaFreniere) Martin. Richard was raised in Lynn and later resided in Melrose. He returned to NH in the late 90's. He served in the US Army from 1965-67. He was formerly employed at Malden Brake as service manager, St. Johnsbury Trucking, and lastly with M & M Express. He was a member of Franklin Elks Lodge #1280 and Franklin VFW Post #1698 where he was a former Sr. Vice Commander. Richard was a life member of American Legion Post #49 in Tilton. He enjoyed playing dominoes, cribbage, and whist. In earlier days, he enjoyed skiing and attained his private pilot's licenses. He really enjoyed music. Family members include his 3 children: Dennis A. Martin and his wife Julie, of Stoneham, MA, Brian R. Martin of Franklin, and Linda E Brown and husband Ernest III of Belmont, 7 grandchildren: Julia, Gianna, and Nicholas Martin, Brittany Hagerty, Olivia Stalaboin, and Courtney and Hailey Brown, siblings: Ellie Sargent and Ronald Martin both of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4-7:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. Funeral services and burial will be in NH State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Boscawen, NH on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 12 noon.
