Richard H. Barker

September 24, 1943 — August 20, 2025

Franklin, NH – Richard “Dick” H. Barker, formerly of Natick, MA, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on September 24, 1943, in Boston, MA, Dick’s warmth, humor, and spirit touched countless lives over the years.

Dick most recently worked with Lakes Region Shuttle, where he built a lasting reputation for dedication and kindness. Throughout much of his career, he drove charter buses up and down the East Coast, always enjoying the opportunity to meet and connect with those who rode with him.

Beyond his work, Dick found joy in simple pleasures—taking day trips, attending outdoor concerts with his wife and son at the iconic Hatch Shell in Boston, and exploring many beloved spots throughout New England.

A lifelong New York Giants fan, he shared that passion with his oldest son, attending training camps and games together. Dick also loved model trains and had a deep interest in politics. Known for his booming radio voice and lively sense of humor, he actively supported local parades alongside Republican candidates and was rarely seen without a newspaper in hand.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn (McGarry) Barker; his sons, Rick Barker and his wife Donna, and Thomas Barker; his daughters, Carol Berry and her husband Ron, and Susan Phillips and her husband Michael. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Kaleigh Barker, Leah Barker, Shawn Phillips, and Stephen Berry.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marion (Bailey) Barker, who surely welcomed him with open arms.

To honor his final wishes, Dick’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, where family and friends will share memories and honor the love he had for both family and community. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Easterseals New Hampshire: https://donate.eastersealsnh.org (please select “Tribute Gift”)—a reflection of Dick’s generous heart and his devotion to his son Thomas.

Though his passing leaves us with heavy hearts, we are comforted by the legacy he leaves behind and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew and loved him.
