Peter E. Gauthier

d. November 9, 2021

Peter Edward Gauthier, 67, of Manchester, NH died suddenly at his home on November 9th, 2021.

Pete was born and grew up in Franklin, NH, the son of Peter A. and Lucille A. (LaCoursiere) Gauthier.  He showed an early interest in all things mechanical and at the age of 10 he took apart his new bicycle and put it back together again - although with a few parts left over.

After graduating from Franklin High School in 1972, he joined the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) and was stationed at Adak in the Aleutian Islands as a construction mechanic.  He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

Pete learned the plumbing and electrical trades over a period of years but his greatest love was working in the carpentry trade as a finished carpenter.  Many of the family residences boast his beautiful arched doorways, built-in bookcases, porches and so much more.  He worked for 16 years for Home Depot in Manchester, NH.

Pete enjoyed playing the guitar with friends and crooning to the tunes of the 60s and 70s.  He said he and his friends sounded amazingly good.  Another joy in his life was fishing on any of the NH lakes and ponds.  He recently caught a "huge" bass at Cobbett's Pond but no one was there to see it.

Pete is survived by his loving daughters, Adrienne Gauthier of Nashua, NH, and Chantal Gauthier of Muskegon, MI; Chantal's partner, Will Duncan; his brother, George Gauthier, and his wife, Gretchen; his sister, Andrea Morin, and her husband, Gerry; his sister, Rosalind Prizio; nieces and nephews, Pamela, Mark & Luke Gauthier, Lisa Miceli, Daniel & Brian Morin, Angela Cornell, Theodore, Kathryn & Martha Prizio, and several great nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Mark Gauthier, sister-in-law, Joy Gauthier, and brother-in-law, Theodore Prizio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pete's name to the Liberty House, located at 221 Orange Street, Manchester, NH  03104 at https://libertyhousenh.org/ or by calling (603) 669-0761.  The Liberty House helps homeless and struggling veterans and is a program of NH Catholic Charities.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 am November 19th at the Thibault-Neun Funeral Home located at 143 Franklin Street, Franklin, NH, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church (St. Gabriel's Parish) located at 108 School Street, Franklin, NH.  Burial to take place immediately thereafter at Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin, NH.
