Olga Buczynski

Olga Bonk Buczynski passed away peacefully at her home in The Gables of Guilford, CT on Monday July 10, 2017. She was born in Franklin, New Hampshire on May 2, 1917, the daughter of Anthony and Katherine (Koziel) Bonk.  Olga grew up in the Polish community where her family belonged to the Polish Home Association. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Church.

Olga was educated in the Franklin Public Schools graduating from Franklin High School in 1935.  In 1939, she married Julian J. Buczynski.  Together they ran Butts Friendly Service, the Mobil Gas Station in Franklin, for over 40 years.  Olga was employed by the Franklin Regional Hospital as volunteer director for several years. She was an active community volunteer including serving as a Girl Scout Troup Leader and participating with the American Red Cross and the Franklin Historical Society.

Olga is survived by her children Thomas F. (Karen) Buczynski of East Hartford, CT; Richard J. (Theresa) Buczynski of Marlborough CT and Joyce Buczynski Mailhouse of Branford CT; her granddaughter Lauren (Edward) Stepanek of Glastonbury, CT; her brother Joseph (Terri) Bonk of Export PA and her favorite niece and nephew, Mary Kay Pavis and Jay Bonk. Olga was predeceased by her husband. In her later years, Olga was skillfully and kindly aided by Willhemina Boateng and Joyce Abankwa. Olga travelled with her brother and family to many places in the US, Europe and Asia. Her favorite vacation spot remained the coast of Maine which she loved and visited every year well into her 90s. Dear friends still residing in New Hampshire include: Shirley Wescott, Edie Bosselait, Jean Carrigan and Kathy Turcotte.

Calling hours at the Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin Street, Franklin on Tuesday July 11 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday July 12 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Friends who wish to honor Olga may consider a contribution to the Franklin Regional Hospital, 15 Aiken Avenue or the Franklin Public Library, 310 Central Street.
