Norman E. DeVolder passed away peacefully at his home in Tilton, N.H. on March 29, 2010 with his loving wife, children and grandchildren by his side. He was born May 12, 1932 to Vernon and Mabel DeVolder in Newark, NY. A veteran of the Korean War, he volunteered directly after graduating high school. After his tour of duty he attended Alfred University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering. He enjoyed a very successful career receiving patents and awards for his ground breaking innovative inventions of semiconductor and capacitor designs and developmental processes. Norm's expertise led him around the world working in Ireland, Taiwan, Mainland China and managing a facility in Mexico. Upon retirement as Vice President and General Manager of Tansitor Electronics in Bennington, Vermont he moved to Belgrade, Maine. He continued consulting in his field of expertise and pursued a new career in Real Estate. An avid outdoorsman, Norm enjoyed being on the water and spent many summers sailing the coast of Maine as well as Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. He loved to fish in Florida for sailfish, and the Keys for bonefish and tarpon. Later in life he introduced fishing to his beloved grandchildren. Always an enthusiastic conversationalist, Norm will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Patricia (McMahon) DeVolder, daughter Cynthia Adams of Portland, Maine, Son Gregg DeVolder and wife Laura of Tilton, N.H. Six grandchildren, Alec Adams of Portland, Me., Britta Moriarty and husband Jason of Fairfax, Va., Erik, Anika, Kristoffer, and Greta DeVolder of Tilton, N.H., brother-in-law Norman McMahon of Sodus Point, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marlene Moore. An hour of visitation will be held Thursday, April 1st from 1:30- 2:30 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., (Exit 19 off I-93), Northfield, NH. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H.
