Franklin, NH? Mrs. Marjorie ""Marge"" W. Briggs, 75, of Franklin, died peacefully with her family at her side at the Maine Medical Center in Portland on Aug. 24, 2010. She was born in Claremont, NH on May 6, 1935 the daughter of Clinton and Rachel (Fidelski) Walker. She was raised in Claremont and resided in Franklin since 1964. Marge graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelors in Education. Several years ago, she taught at Bow Elementary School. She then operated the Little Brown School House at her home for a few years. Marge was a teacher in Franklin for 26 years mostly at Paul Smith School until her retirement. She was very active in many community programs. She was a member of Franklin BPW and was their Woman of the Year in 1974. She served on the Board of Directors of Neighbor to Neighbor; Headstart; and YMCA Camp Nellie Huckins. Marge also coached in Franklin Lassie League and worked at the summer programs at Stone Park. She was president of Pond and Peak Reading Assn., and was active in the Franklin High School Music Boosters. She volunteered for many years with the Franklin Outing Club. Marge and her husband enjoyed camping at the Shamrock Campground in Biddeford, Maine for 29 summers. They consider their camping friends their extended family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and their Christmas tradition of making Kuluski's from scratch, a favorite Polish dish. Family members include her husband of 53 years, Edward B. Briggs of Franklin; 2 children: Robert and his wife Kimberly (Hill) Briggs of Franklin, and Catherine Riley and her husband Mark of Hampstead, 4 grandchildren, Ashley Briggs, Kira Riley, Erin Riley, and Robbie Briggs, and her sister-in-law, Norma Dill, and her husband Douglas, of Lincoln, ME . She also leaves many nieces and nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held Friday (Aug. 27) from 5-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 28th at 11:00 am in St. Paul Church.
