Marie J. Turgeon of Franklin passed away on August 30, 2021 at the age of 78. Marie's final days were spent at home, in the company of loved ones, surrounded by her vast collection of treasured books.
Marie grew up on the West Side of Manchester. As a child, Marie's favorite place in the world was the city library where she would check out as many books as she could carry. Her love of reading and book collecting continued throughout her entire life. She particularly loved used books because she enjoyed imagining who might have read them before her. "The older the book, the better" she believed.
An excellent student, Marie graduated as the valedictorian of her class at St. Marie High School and went on to become salutatorian of her class at Notre Dame College.
Marie was the beloved wife of Raymond with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, Lance, Jenna and Kevin. She adored her five grandchildren, as well as her son-in-law (Scott) and daughter-in-law (Deborah). Her family will miss her sense of humor, her kindness, her generosity of spirit, her sparkling blue eyes and her warm smile.
There will be a small service for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Catholic Charities NH, or to the Franklin VNA & Hospice who took exceptionally good care of her during Marie's extended illness.
