Margaret Francis Ann (Shannon) Spooner died peacefully in her home in Northfield N.H. on the 20th of November 2023, she was surrounded by her family. She was 72 years old.
Marge (as she was known) was born on September 1st, 1951, in Warwick, RI. The daughter of the late Joseph Shannon Sr. and Ruth Baker, she attended Saint Kevin elementary School, Gorton Junior high school and Warwick veteran’s memorial High school.
She was the 11th of 12 children.
On January 9th, 1971, she married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Daniel Edward Spooner Sr.
Marge was a loving and devoted mother to her three sons Daniel Jr, Edward (Ted) and Alan and she always made her children her main priority. She was well known for attending almost every sporting event her sons participated in, her family was her pride and joy. She was also well known to have an open home to all the children in the neighborhood and to all her family and friends. Everyone who know her just called her “mom”. The love of family and friends is what kept her going. She would often say “you’re only old, if you feel old”.
She loved baking and dancing in her kitchen, especially during the holidays and later in life when all three of her sons served proudly in the U.S. Marines, she would often send home made baked good to them and their friends all around the world, just so they could have a small piece of home no matter where they were.
She had fond memories of sewing with her mother, as a young girl and growing up she would often make her own clothes. Later, when her son where young children she would make clothing for them and also other children in the neighborhood.
Along with her home life as a wife and a mother. She had a work career spanned over 50 years, starting with graduating from Warwick Business school in 1970, she worked for several small businesses in both Rhode Island and New Hampshire. She spent over 30 years working for (Watts) Webster Value in Franklin until her retirement. Once she retired, she was still on the go and worked part time for Kohl’s department store in Tilton.
Later in life she loved to go travel and take vacations all around the world with her family and friends. Some of her best vacations were traveling to Ireland the home of her family roots to visit her son, daughter in law and grandchildren. If Marge wasn’t traveling, you could often find her spending time at home sitting on her porch doing crossword puzzles or word searches.
She loved listening to oldies on the radio and taken late night swims in the summertime with her husband.
She enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers, while her husband took care of the yard. They were a great team.
Magie is survived by her loving Husband of 52 years, Daniel Spooner Sr. Son Daniel Spooner Jr., daughter in law Paula Spooner, grandchildren Michael and Kevin. Son Alan Spooner, fiancé Krysten Adel, grandchildren Edward and Alan Jr. and extended family.
