She was born in Franklin on Dec. 30, 1935 the daughter of Robert and Sabrina (Varney) Cunningham. Madeline graduated from Franklin High School in 1954 and later continued her studies in food service. Several years ago, she worked at the former Merrill Manor and at Mtn. Ridge Health Care Center. She lastly worked in food services at Franklin Regional Hospital for 20 years prior to retiring. Madeline was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and was the widow of Robert M. Bresse, Sr. who died in 2005. Family members include her 3 children: Deborah Morgan and her husband John of Belmont, Robin Cilley and her husband Dorrance of Salisbury, and Robert M. Bresse, Jr. of Franklin, 4 grandchildren, Jodi Nugent and husband Kevin of Belmont, Jason Cilley of Salisbury, Heidi Morgan and Matthew Morgan, both of Belmont, 2 great grandchildren, Dylan Cain and Conner Nugent, 3 brothers, Thomas Cunningham of NC, and Robert and James Cunningham, both of Northfield, a sister, Linda Medlin of Chicago, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Meuse who died on Dec. 27, 2015. A graveside service will be held at Franklin Cemetery in the spring.
