Lorraine E. Bushman

February 22, 1934 — August 24, 2024

Lorraine Ellis Bushman, 90, died on August 24, 2024, at Peabody Place of Franklin, NH, after a period of declining health, with her family by her side. She was born on February 22, 1934, in North Stratford, NH, the daughter of George and Marjorie (Taylor) Ellis. She married the love of her life, Clayton (“Bushy”) Bushman, on May 11, 1957.
Lorraine graduated from Gorham, NH, and was employed for a few years by New England Telephone Co. in Berlin, NH, and Franklin, NH, until she became a mother. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom until her children were older and then worked for 26 years in Food Services at Franklin High School until she retired.
She was very involved with the Franklin Baptist Church for many years, teaching Sunday School and serving on various committees and boards in the Church. Her faith was a very big part of her life. Whenever an event occurred, whether good or bad, her words were always, “God is always taking care of us.” Lorraine was also a member of the Franklin Outing Club and enjoyed skiing and teaching ski lessons at the Veterans Memorial Ski Area. She loved being involved in various clubs, including the Red Hats, and going to coffee with friends at the local soda shop. Entertaining friends and family over the years at her pool was one of her greatest joys.
She was an avid sports fan, whether it was local school teams, her grandkids and great-grandkids, or her beloved Celtics. Lorraine loved the beach and vacationed every year at the Norseman in Ogunquit, ME. She went on a cross-country trip when Bushy retired, visiting every state, including a cruise in Hawaii between the islands. Her trips to the “North Country,” where she was raised and her family lived, were a highlight, as she spent time with her sisters and showed her children her favorite memories from childhood.
She was a second mom to many. Her children’s friends were always welcome and referred to her as “Mom” or “Mrs. B.” Her family meant everything to her, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her light.
Lorraine was predeceased by her daughter at birth, Marjorie Gladys Bushman, and her brother John Ellis. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Bushman, her sisters Joan Ramsay and Jean Neil, her daughters Kandi Fallon and husband Daniel, Carol Bowen and husband Dale, and her son Daniel Bushman. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank the staff at Peabody Place and the Franklin VNA and Hospice.
