Franklin - Katherine V. Vangjel (Big Gramma), 89 of Franklin, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 17, 2018, after a short period of failing health. Katherine was born in Northfield to parents James and Irene (Higley) Vangjel and grew up in Northfield attending Tilton - Northfield schools. Katherine raised her daughter in Concord and was a homemaker and a caretaker for many years.
Katherine loved spending time with her family and visiting the North Country. She loved people and was a magnet to children. Her hobbies included search-a-word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, bingo and card games.
Katherine was pre-deceased by her seven sisters; Rosey Vangjel, Annie Gregory, Eleanor Belisle, Christina Bilodeau, Sophie Copp, Dorothy Riley, Marion Nowak and a brother Peter Vangjel.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Pyne (Little Gramma) and her husband Robert (and family pet, Allie Marie) of Barnstead, NH; her granddaughter, Melinda Wilson of Gilmanton, NH; two great-grandsons, Evan Wilson and Landon Wilson of Gilmanton, NH, who were the "loves of her life"; one sister Lillian (Marie) Belisle; a brother Leo Vangjel; several nieces and nephews and two very dear friends, Esther Gilbert and Evalyn Sylvester of Franklin, who were always just a phone call away whenever she needed them.
