Northfield--- Joseph J. Bruno, Sr., 86, a longtime resident of Northfield, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born on October 2, 1938, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Joseph Thomas Bruno and Katherine (Spitzner) Bruno.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Roxane Shaw of Laconia; son, Joseph J. Bruno, Jr. of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Tarra, Chad, Hanna, Jeremy, Paige, and Gabby and five great-grandchildren, Gage, Chevy, Emma, Blake, and Briggs. He is also remembered fondly by his four stepchildren, Richard, Ronald, Randall, and Rebecca, as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rita (Couture) Bruno. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, embodying a deep commitment to his country. For over 18 years, he worked as a truck driver with Ross Express, known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Joe was an avid fly-fisherman and was always found at the local bridge fishing or sitting by the river. Joesph was a member of the American Legion, and a proud veteran for his country.
Burial will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303, and a celebration of life to follow at the American Legion in Tilton from 11:30-3:30.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
