Northfield, NH?. John R. Yarbrough, Sr., 72, of Northfield, NH, died at his home on June 1, 2010. He was born in Harlingen, TX on July 15, 1937 the son of Malcom A. and Melba O. (Hand) Yarbrough. Mr. Yarbrough resided in the Tilton-Northfield area for 50 years, residing at his current home since 1989. He served as an AO3 in the US Navy from 1954 until 1958, which included two tours of duty in the Mediterranean Sea aboard aircraft carriers USS Lake Champlain and USS Essex. Mr. Yarbrough was a machinist, formerly working at Tilton Leather Shop, JP Stevens Co., Arwood Corp., Winnisquam Machine Co., Baron's Machine Co., and Norell Foundry. He was last employed at Acme Staple Co. in Franklin prior to retiring in 2006. Mr. Yarbrough was a member of The Whiteman-Davidson American Legion Post #49 in Northfield. Family members include his wife of 52 years, Georgia (Stanton) Yarbrough of Northfield; 4 children: Michael E. Yarbrough and his companion Laurie Robichaud of Tilton, Evelyn Bourassa and her husband Claude of Franklin; John R. Yarbrough, Jr. and his companion Suzanne Whitney of Laconia; and Timothy J. Yarbrough and his wife Marilyn of Bristol; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister, Linda Dibble and her husband Emmett of Alvin, TX, a brother, Bobby Yarbrough and his wife Mona of Church Point, LA, and nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles who will miss him greatly. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother: Rachel Schumake; stepfather: Russell McConnell, and a brother, Kenneth Yarbrough. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, June 5th, from 2-4 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield, NH. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 7th at 1:00 pm in Arch Hill Cemetery (next to Town Hall), Northfield, NH.
