JOHN PHILLIP GUNTHER

John was born in Portsmouth, NH to John and Rachel (Boisvert) Gunther.
He is predeceased by his brother Stephen, and beautiful wife Susan (DeLong) Gunther.
John leaves behind his brother, Joseph, and his sister Paula (Gunther) Dimond.
He also leaves behind many cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and a most wonderful circle of friends.
John was an accomplished musician playing trombone through high school and served his country in the Army National Guard playing in the 39th Army Band.
John’s love for music fueled his life as he played with many talented musicians in many venues. He enjoyed his time at “Jazz in the Mountains Vermont” band camp and playing with Freese Brothers Big Band.
John also enjoyed golf, hiking, flying small aircraft, traveling with Susan, and was active in civic operations helping others as well as time with friends.
John and Susan amassed a moose themed collection, the personas of which many may have been acquainted. Life was everything as it pertained to moose, as John was known as “Moose-E or Old Moose.” John had a great sense of humor; he was a quiet generous man who worked hard and loved many and of it led a great and wonderful life.
John funded his passion in music doing what he enjoyed in his occupation in banking and finance ultimately retiring from Bellweather Community Credit Union.
John and Susan will be interred together at New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at 3:00 pm.
At John’s request there will be no public viewing. Memorial donations suggested are: The Freese Brothers Bid Band Scholarship Fund, c/o Peter Inse, Treasurer, 609 Page Rd., Bow, NH 03304, and Make A Wish, and performing random acts of kindness as he practiced every day.
