Joanna Vandermast

Sanbornton, NH?.Joanna VanderMast, 32, dearly loved daughter of Marcia (Livingstone) VanderMast and her father and stepmother, Kenneth and Sarah VanderMast, died at Franklin Regional Hospital on July 18, 2002 after a short illness. She was born in Manchester on Jan. 26, 1970 and was raised in Sanbornton and Ashland. She graduated from Sant Bani School in 1988. While at Sant Bani, she was a member of the school chorus performing at various benefits and nursing homes. Joanna also sang numerous solos in school productions and concerts. She also was an accomplished weaver on both two-harness and four-harness looms. She was also an editor for various school publications. During the summer of 1987, she spend 4 weeks in France with NACEL foreign exchange program. Following graduation, she attended Smith College in Northampton, Mass. graduating in 1992 with degrees in Political Science and French Civilization. She also attended Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord receiving a Juris Doctor in 1998. Joanna traveled throughout India for a year following graduation from Smith College. Family members include her mother, Marcia VanderMast of Wentworth, her father and stepmother: Ken & Sarah VanderMast of Sanbornton, step-siblings: Kara Downes and Colm Brophy, both of Sanbornton; maternal grandfather: Alexander F. Livingstone of Tilton; paternal grandfather, Rudolph VanderMast of Wells, Maine, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial services will be held at The VanderMast residence, 170 Knox Mtn. Rd., Sanbornton, on Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joanna may be made to Sant Bani School, 19 Ashram Rd., Sanbornton, NH 03269 for a scholarship fund to be established in her memory.
