It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother “Jim the Yardman” Doucett. Jim was a kind and generous soul who would do anything for anyone. He loved life, his family, and his cat Dino. Jim would literally give you the shirt off his back – if you commented on his numerous t-shirts, he would say, “you want it?” Jim was child-like in many ways – loved to sing and crack corny jokes and make everyone laugh. Jim was as kind a person you could ever know. If he could help you in any way he was there.
He was born in Whitefield, NH to the late Joseph H. Doucett and Anne Greco Doucett. Jim was raised in Twin Mountain, until he and his parents moved to New York and then Florida. Jim loved the warmth and sun of Florida – he was not a fan of the cold and snow of NH but loved the summers doing yard work for friends and neighbors. He loved family get-togethers and driving his truck. Jim has left a huge void in our hearts.
Jim is survived by his brothers, Joseph Doucett of Sayeville, NY, Robert and Linda Doucett of Franklin, NH, and sister Marie Regan and Tim of Freeport, NY, many nieces and nephews, not to mention his many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his cat Lucy and sister-in-law Doris Doucett of Sayeville, NY on November 30, 2023.
From all of us to Jim: “Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight” the song he would sing when he was leaving a gathering and headed home. The last time was Christmas 2023.
