Irene Santos

Irene R. (Giroux) Santos, 67, of Franklin, died at Concord Hospital on Aug. 4, 2016. She was born in Manchester on Jan. 30, 1949 the daughter of the late Wilfred and Albina (Hebert) Giroux. Irene was raised in Manchester and attended Central High School. She studied nursing at Concord Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse, lastly at Mountain Ridge Healthcare in Franklin. She enjoyed quilting and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene also enjoyed reading and playing games on her tablet. She is the widow of Joseph Santos, Jr. who died on Sept. 30, 2002. Family members include her children, Georgia Dion of Newport, NH, Debra Emery of Clifford, PA, Leonard Santos of Franklin, and Joseph Santos III of Courtdale, PA, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her companion, Ed Plizga of Franklin, a sister, Lillian Robare of St. Petersburg, FL, 2 brothers: Joseph Giroux of Manchester and Edouard Giroux of Idaho, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Rita Roche, Diana Lamb, Lucille Giroux, and Claire Gleason. Visiting hours will held on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 from 5-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass celebrating Irene's life will be at St. Paul Church, 110 School St., Franklin, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
