Mrs. Irene L. Carignan, 85, of Franklin, died at her home on Sept. 18, 2016. She was born in Franklin on Sept. 26, 1930 the daughter of Theodore and Beatrice (Nadeau) Gosselin. Irene was a lifelong resident of Franklin and attended Franklin High School. Irene was a devoted mother, wife, grandparent, and caregiver with her great care and kindness. Several years ago, she worked at Tilton Leather Shop. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress dating back to the days when she made all the clothes for her four children. She would continue that practice, making many things for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved being around. Irene was a good neighbor and friend to many. She was compassionate and caring and loved to entertain. Her doors were always open to family and friends. Irene was a member of the former Catholic Daughters of America Court Annie Nesmith and the Red Hatters. Her family includes her husband, Alfred "Ace" Carignan of Franklin, 3 daughters: Kathy Nedeau of Franklin, Judy M. Johnson and husband Charlie of Harrisville, and Deborah Irene Rivers and husband Jim of Contoocook, grandchildren: Lindsay, Courtney, Rebecka, Stephen, and Stephanie, great grandchildren: Cody, Wiley, Ramsey, Bridger, Copeland, Elijah, and Abram, and was looking forward to another great grandson in December. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Gosselin of Franklin, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Nedeau, a son, Gary Nedeau, a brother, Ted, and a sister Dorothy. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 from 5-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at 10 am at Holy Cross Cemetery, Rte. 11, Franklin.
