The Lynn family of Jackson, New Hampshire sadly announce the passing of Ira I Lynn on December 28, 2025. Ira was born on May 1, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY. He was 91 when he passed away.
Ira is survived by his wife, Verna Lynn of 65 years; three children, Scott, Michael, and Nicole; 4 grandchildren, Emily, Carlie, Brody, and Zoe, and wo great grandchildren, Avett and Sedona. Additional survivors include his younger brother Stuart, wife Linda, and two daughters in law, Elizabeth and Olivia. Ira loved his family, friends, and his country.
After graduating college in 1958 from the Military College of South Carolina - The Citadel, Ira pursued a military career in the United States Army where proudly served for 33 years. He was a decorated combat veteran having been awarded the Purple Heart, multiple Bronze Stars, The Legion of Merit, among others. He served two combat tours in the Vietnam conflict and overseas in Korea and Europe. Ira earned advanced degrees from Boston University and the Army's Command and Generally Staff College. Ira retired in 1984 earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement Ira pursued a second career as the Associated Director for the Center of Hope in North Conway New Hampshire. Ira also loved the New Hampshire outdoors, fly-fishing, and hunting, and he was an avid fan of the Boston Red Socks, Celtics, and Patriots.
A delayed memorial service is planned on his upcoming birthday. The graveside service with Military honors is scheduled to occur on May 1, 2026, at the New Hampshire National Veterans cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Thibault-Neun Funeral Home are making all arrangements. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, NH.
