Mrs. Gloria Carol (Mills) Stangroom, 75, of Franklin, died at Concord Hospital on Jan. 1, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born in Lowell, MA on Dec. 25, 1940 the daughter of Francis and Genevieve (Stearns) Mills. Gloria formerly resided in Chelmsford, Tyngsboro and Woburn, MA moving to Franklin in 1978. From 1979 until retiring in 2010, she worked as a nurse's aide at Merrimack County Nursing Home. Gloria enjoyed watching her grandchildren, especially attending their sports activities. Her husband, Gerald B. Stangroom died in 2008. Family members include her children: Scott A. Stangroom and his wife Cathy of Gardner, MA, Timothy E. Stangroom of Franklin, and Cynthia G. Akerstrom of Belmont. Grandchildren: Alex, Zachary, Jozlin, Quiana, Caleb, Miles, Emma, and Jacob. She also leaves a brother, Donald Michael Rand of New Ipswich, NH. Besides her husband and parents, Gloria was predeceased by sisters Evelyn and Faith, and a brother, David. A graveside service will be held at NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Following the service, all are invited to join the Stangroom family at The Fr. Boutin Center (behind St. Mary of The Assumption Church), 16 Chestnut St., Tilton, for a luncheon and time to meet with the family.
