Geraldine Arel

Mrs. Geraldine A. Arel, 94, of Northfield, died at her home on June 13, 2015. She was born in Saugus, MA on Nov. 21, 1920 the daughter of Harold and Nellie (Lockwood) Tilton. Mrs. Arel resided most of her life in Northfield. She was raised on Flaghole Rd. in East Andover and graduated from Franklin High School in 1939. She was formerly employed at Tilton Leather Shop for 33 years later working at The NH Veterans Home for twelve years prior to retiring. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, going for walks and rides, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. Her husband, Harry Arel, died in 1972. Family members include her daughter, Carol Hibbert of Franklin, 3 grandchildren: Charles H.W. Hibbert and his wife Maria of Northfield, Erin K. Arel, and Travis D. Arel, both of Northfield, 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Charles "Chaz" Hibbert of Northfield, two sisters: Marion Panerallo of Malden, MA and Thelma Moses of Sanbornton, daughter-in-law: Kathleen Sheffield of Concord, and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, David Arel who died in 2006, Sisters: Dorothy Tilton, Marie Crane, Grace Page, and Aldora Heath, and brothers: Harold, Wilfred, Robert, and Leslie Tilton. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6-8:00 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery, Tilton. Donations in memory of Mrs. Arel may be made to The First Baptist Church of Sanbornton, 17 Church Lane, Sanbornton, NH 03269.
