Gerald E. Goodwin

October 26, 1930 — August 30, 2017

Mr. Gerald E. Goodwin, 86, formerly of Northfield, died in Penacook on Aug. 30, 2017.



He was born in Laconia on Oct. 26, 1930 the son of Ernest and Edna (Holbrook) Goodwin.

Jerry was raised in Lakeport and Lebanon graduating from Lebanon High School in 1948.

He continued his education at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston graduating in 1952.



During the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the US Army.



From 1970 until 1990, he owned and operated Griffin Drug Co. in Franklin and Tilton Pharmacy.

He later worked at LaVerdiere's Super Drug in Franklin and Rite Aid in Bristol.

Jerry also worked at Dartmouth Hitchcock Pharmacy in Concord and the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.  While in Florida, he worked at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Cape Coral.



He was a former member and officer of NH Pharmacist Assn., MCP Alumni of NH, and a member of the NH Society of Health System Pharmacists, Inc.  Gerry also was a board member and past president of Franklin VNA and Franklin Rotary Club.  As a Rotarian, he attained 32 years of perfect attendance and is a Past President.  He was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.



Jerry was recognized by the State of NH Board of Pharmacy for 50 years of service to the Profession presented by Gov. Jean Shaheen in 2002.  He was also awarded the AH Robbins Bowl of Hygeia in 1978.



Family members include his wife of 33 years, Mary (Foster) Goodwin of Punta Gorda, FL,

5 children: Bruce Goodwin of Laconia, Laurel Holder of Meredith, Leigh Cheney of Penacook,

Wendy Wilusz of Hampton, and Brian Cheney of Holderness. 7 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.



Funeral services with military honors and interment will be private.
