On Thursday, November 21st, George L. Flanders of Northfield passed on to the other side where he was surely met by many family and friends. George was a friend to all. He was born at Franklin Hospital on May 21st, 1951 to Clayton and Jeanne Flanders also of Northfield. Northfield was his beloved home for all of his 73 years. George had a rich life filled with family, friends, and his love of automobiles.
George started his working life at the age of 18 in 1969 for the phone company as a mechanic and subsequently retired from the same company, Verizon in 1995. At that juncture, he opened his auto shop Flanders Auto which he operated until his passing. George was a highly skilled mechanic who was known for turning old scraps into new beauties.
George was the ultimate family man. He was adored by his wife Deborah J. Flanders, daughters Jennifer and Jillian, his sons-in-law Jeremie and Shane, and was the heart and soul of his grandsons, Anthony and Zachary. George's larger-than-life personality combined with his give-a-shirt-off-your-back heart made him beloved by many.
George is survived by his wife of 45 years Deborah Jean Flanders of Northfield. Jennifer Boomer and her husband Jeremie of Tilton. Jill Flanders and her partner Shane Dow of Northfield. Grandsons Anthony Boomer and Zachary Boomer of Tilton. His best friend and brother Charles Flanders and his wife Judy of Sanbornton, and his nephew Charles Flanders, Jr and his wife Christina also of Sanbornton and their sons Jackson and Colin. As well as many extended family and friends.
In the words of the great man himself: "See ya later Harry".
