Mr. Francis M. Bastis, 70, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at Concord Hospital on Sept. 17, 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Boston on April 16, 1946 the son of Anthony and Grace Elizabeth (Burnes) Bastis. Frank was raised in South Boston where he resided before entering the US Navy. He attended Boston Trade School. Frank resided in NH since 1969. While in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Forrestal (CVA-59) from 1963-67. Frank later served in the NH National Guard. He was formerly employed at Watts Regulator in Franklin and Canaan for 18 years and later Oshram Sylvania in Manchester for 21 years prior to retirement in 2010. Frank was a member of Franklin VFW Post 1698, Franklin Lodge of Elks #1280, and Whiteman-Davidson American Legion Post #49. He assisted with Bingo at the Elks and VFW. Frank greatly enjoyed golf and played at Lochmere Country Club and NH Senior Golf Association. Family members include his wife of 31 years, Lynn (Chapman) Bastis of Franklin, 3 children: Sheri Gonthier, Shawn Lorden of Pembroke, Matthew Lorden of Franklin, and 5 grandchildren, Evan Francis Gonthier, Thomas Bastis, Savanah Bastis, Andrew Lorden and Erin Lorden, siblings: Sharon Regan, Joanne Burns, and Joseph Bastis of S. Weymouth, MA, Mary Nadeau of Dedham, MA, Robert Bastis of Punta Gorda, FL, Michael Bastis of Halifax, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a son, John Francis Bastis in 2008, and a brother, Walter Bastis. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at 1 0 am at the Tilton-Northfield United Methodist Church, 440 West Main St., Tilton.
