Mrs. Eugenia S. Garneau, of Franklin, widow of Albert G. Garneau, died at her home on June 14, 2012. She was born in Franklin on Aug. 22, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Wojcik) Sokul. Mrs. Garneau was a lifelong Franklin resident and was a graduate of Franklin High School. Her husband, Albert G. Garneau, died in 2007. Eugenia, or ""Genie"", as she was called, began her working career at Griffin Saw Shop. She worked for several years alongside her husband, Albert, in their building material business. Following that, she joined her son, Joseph, in his business, doing his bookkeeping until well into her 80s. In addition to her full-time working career, she was expert at crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. An avid gardener from her childhood on her parents' farm, she was especially fond of her flowers-pansies, cosmos, and geraniums. As recently as a few months ago, she was antiquing with her daughter, Mary, and well into her second reading of ""To Kill A Mockingbird."" She was not only loved and admired by her family; she was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jay Cohen of Atlanta, GA, her son, Joseph Garneau of Franklin, her sister, Jadwiga Legace of Franklin, her brother, John H. Sokul and his wife Frances of Concord, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters: Anne Morrissette and Louise Chableck, and four brothers, Ludovic (Jokie) Sokul, Teofil (Tat) Sokul, William Sokul, and Victor Sokul. Visitation will be held Monday, June 18th from 9:30 until 10:30 at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. Funeral services will be private with burial in Franklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Garneau may be made to the Garneau Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Gayle Battersby, Franklin Savings Bank, 387 Central St., Franklin, NH 03235.
