Mrs. Esther M. (Neuman) Edwards, 100, a lifelong resident of Manchester's West Side, died at the Golden Crest Senior Wellness Resort in Franklin, NH on Oct. 23, 2018.
She was born in Manchester on June 25, 1918 the daughter of Karl and Anna (Gansler) Neumann. Esther was raised in West Manchester where she resided for 98 years. She married Clarence (Bob) Edwards on June 29, 1940.
She was employed by Sheehan, Griffin & Burns Insurance Agency and later by Dunbar Fuel Co.
Esther enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and spending time with her family. When her sons were young she made virtually all their clothing such as shirts, slacks, and even sport coats. She was thrilled when she had granddaughters because she could then fashion little girl dresses.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2001 and all seven of her siblings.
Family members include her two sons: Donald Edwards and his wife Barbara of Meredith and Thomas Edwards and his wife Karen of Franklin; four grandchildren: Jennifer Edwards Saucier and her husband Brian, Robert (Bob) Edwards and his wife Laura Weed, Kristen Edwards and her husband Richard Kelly, and Kimberly Tinkham and her husband Joseph. She had five great-granddaughters: Devyn Edwards-Saucier, Lucy and Charlotte Edwards, Alyssa and Corinne Tinkham. Esther is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Center Harbor Congregational Church, 52 Main Street, Center Harbor, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choosing.
