Franklin, NH? Ernest P. Mahar, 85, of Franklin, died at Franklin Regional Hospital on Nov. 22, 2010. He was born in Lynn, MA on July 10, 1925 the son of Ernest and Mary (Driscoll) Mahar. Mr. Mahar was raised in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary High School, Class of 1944. He resided in Franklin since 1985, Following high school, he entered the US Navy where he served during World War II. He later served in the US Air Force. Mr. Mahar was employed by GE in Lynn for 29 years prior to retiring in 1985. Ernest was a member of the VFW, formerly Post 507 in Lynn and currently at Post 1698 in Franklin. He also is a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Leo O'Neil Council #12147 and is a communicant of St. Paul Church. Mr. Mahar also served as a councilman for the City of Franklin. Family members include his wife, Grace (Fillion) Mahar of Franklin, a daughter: Kathleen Mandravelis and husband Phil of Foxboro, MA, 4 sons: Patrick Mahar and his wife Pierette of Hydeville, VT, Michael Mahar of Raymond, NH, Gerald Mahar of Danvers, MA, and John Mahar and wife Janet of Marblehead, MA, 3 grandchildren: Joseph Mandravelis, Sean Mahar, and Erin Mahar, a brother: Kevin Mahar of Lynn, a sister, Eileen Mahar of Lynn, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene, a brother, Raymond Mahar, and a sister, Marilyn Sampson. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Nov. 26th from 4-8 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Nov. 27th at 10 am in St. Paul Church 108 School St., Franklin. Burial will be in NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
