Mrs. Eleanor (Dunbar) Hollis, 73, of Franklin, NH, died unexpectedly at her home on May 31, 2016. She was born in Bradford, VT on July 5, 1942 the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Hardy) Dunbar. Eleanor was raised in Bradford and Coventry, CT where she attended local schools. Following her marriage to Mr. LeRoy F. Hollis, Jr. in 1962, she moved to Willimantic, CT. She later resided in Keene, NH before returning to Willimantic where she resided before moving to Franklin last October. She was employed for several years as Supervisor of Housekeeping at Windham (CT) Hospital prior to retiring. Eleanor was an extremely caring mother and grandmother who always put the needs of others ahead of her own, especially her children and grandchildren. She worked tirelessly throughout her life to insure that her family's needs were always met. Her work ethic and sense of morality were unsurpassed. As a parent, she set an example to emulate. She was dearly loved by her family. Her one passion was going out to play bingo with family and friends at St. Joseph's Church in Willimantic. Eleanor will be sorely missed by all those that knew her. Family members include her husband of 54 years, LeRoy F. Hollis, Jr. of Franklin, 4 children: Edward Hollis of MO, Eleanor "Chris" Dyer of Jewett City, CT, LeRoy F. Hollis, III of Franklin, and Laurence Hollis of Willimantic, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
