Elaine D. Hennessy

Elaine D. Hennessy (Wotton), 64, of Franklin, NH, passed away July 08, 2017 in Concord NH after losing her battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at the Veterans cemetery in Boscawen July 21, 2017 at 3pm. A celebration of life will be held, at the Merrimack Valley Railroad Function Hall (train depot), Park St., in Northfield, immediately following the service. Elaine was born on February 26, 1953 to Donald and Lorraine (Ader) Wotton in Red Bank NJ. She grew up in Union Beach, NJ and graduated from Keyport High School. Elaine married Lawrence Hennessy while he served in the USMC and bore 3 sons; Larry Jr, Jason, and Jarrod. They relocated to NH in 1983, the state they fell in love with while on family vacations, to raise their children. Elaine attended Thomas Secretarial School then worked at FRH. Pursuing a degree in early childhood development, she began her education at Plymouth State University. She completed her associates degree for early childhood development at NHTI. She graduated as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society. Elaine worked at the local elementary school teaching children to read. She finished her career, retiring with the NH Department of Education, assisting children in need of special education for over 18 years. Elaine is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Patrice Wotton. Elaine is survived by her husband of over 47 years Larry Sr, sons Larry Jr. and Julieann Hennessy, Jason and Grace(Patterson) Hennessy of Franklin, Jarrod and Jennifer Hennessy of New Hampton and 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Her siblings Donald & Joanne Wotton, Glenn Wotton, Donna & Pat Malley and Mary & Edward Sembler all of NJ. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Elaine loved her family immensely, making every opportunity to gather. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren using her education and creative skills to tell stories on felt board also making arts and crafts with them. She brought out the creative genius in all around her! Her love of quilting produced gifts of quilts for family and friends. She loved going on road trips making many adventures with her sisters Donna, Mary and Patrice. She loved our country. Taking much interest in historical events and places in our nation, visiting several National Parks and monuments with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling abroad to Ireland and Mexico. Elaine was a very kind and compassionate woman who put others before herself making this world a much brighter place! She placed her faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of her sins, and her eternal destiny. If you knew her, you loved her. She will be missed immensely. The family would like to extend extreme gratitude to Elaine's coworkers at the DOE who generously sacrificed their personal time to help Elaine in her time of need. She was overwhelmed emotionally for the outpouring of kindness and support. They would also like to thank family and friends, the caregivers at DHMC, the Franklin and Concord VNA, and the Hospice House for the loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, Elaine requested donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Franklin and Concord VNA, in memory of her, would greatly be appreciated.
