Eileen Nunan

Eileen J. (Bulman) (Twohig) Nunan, 92, died at NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH on May 8, 2011. She was born on March 31, 1919 in Dedham, MA to Frank and Margaret Bulman. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph M. Twohig, Sr. in 1981. During World War II, she served in the US Navy at the Naval Air Station in Dallas and was honorably discharged in 1945 attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class. She worked and retired from Harvard University's Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plains, MA. She loved helping people wherever she could. She volunteered at the VA Hospitals in Gainesville, FL, W. Roxbury, MA, and White River Junction, VT. She served as commander at American Legion Post No.18 in Dedham and was President of the VFW in Dedham. Also while in Dedham, she was a Girl Scout Leader and member of the Sodality of St. Ann's Church in Readville, MA. Her life was devoted to her family. She was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Mather (2001). She is survived by husband, Kenneth Nunan of Cornish Flats, NH, daughter Catherine DiMaggio and husband Arthur of Cornish Flats, son Joseph M. Twohig Jr of wife Linda of Rockdale, TX, son-in-law, Dr. Ian Mather of College Park, MD, 6 grandchildren, Paul Brown and wife Tricia, Stacy Brown, Stephen Mather and wife Candice, Elizabeth Morse and husband Evan, Patrick Twohig and wife Cynthia, Brian Twohig and wife Jessica, great grandchildren Tyler Brown, Kari Brown, James Mather, and Sheldon Twohig. Our mother will be sadly missed by all of her family and numerous friends. A Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10 am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 N. Quaker Rd., N. Falmouth, MA with burial to follow in Bourne National Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, PO Box 91024, Seattle, WA 98100.
