Dorothy Emily (Davis) Walker passed away on June 17, 2016, at the Concord Hospice Home. Dorothy was born in Laconia, NH on December 29, 1919 to Alfred G. Davis and Emily Stevens Davis. She resided at 6 Cottage Street in Northfield, NH since 1968. She was recently recognized as the oldest resident in Northfield. Dorothy started her singing and dancing career at the age of 6. Her first dance was the Charleston and one of her early songs was Spring Time in the Rockies. Her dad taught Hawaiian Guitar and every Sunday afternoon Dorothy would perform with Al Davis and the Hawaiians on WKAV. She performed until she graduated from Laconia High School in 1937. She graduated from Concord Business College in Concord, NH. She married on September 7, 1940. Dorothy worked at Scott & Williams in Lakeport, NH in the payroll department as a key punch operator during the war. She was employed at Franklin National Bank for over 25 years as a bookkeeper, proof operator and teller. After retiring from the New Hampshire State Library for the Blind she worked for the K-Mart Store in Gilford, NH in the cash office for five years. Dorothy's last ten years of employment was at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home in Tilton, NH. She worked in the Veteran's Store, assisted them with bingo along with outside outings. Dorothy had a very special place in her heart for Veterans. Both her sons, Bud & Jim, her brother Sonny, her son-in-law David, her grand son-in-law Angelo and her three brothers-in-law, Lester, Armand & Monty served in the military. She was so appreciative of their service to our country. Dorothy felt her last job was the best job as she was able to spend time with these very special men and women who had given so much. Dorothy was an active member of the Franklin Red Hatters and enjoyed their lunch dates and trips. Dorothy also was a member of the Laconia VFW Auxillary. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Alfred G. Davis, Jr. and his wife Althea, her sister Marjorie DuBois and her husband Armand and her brothers-in-law Gerard Montembeault and Lester Crosby. She was the cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother to two sons Victor "Bud" Walker, Jr., his wife Brenda of Belmont, NH, James T. Walker of Franklin, NH and her daughter Janie D. Piper and her husband David of Tilton, NH. Granddaughter Jaime Piper Fontanazza and her husband Angelo of Easton, Maryland and grandson Todd D. Piper of Concord, NH. Three great grandchildren Ella, Tate and Joseph Fontanazza of Easton, Maryland. Two sisters Eva Montembeault of Bedford, NH and Mary Crosby of Newport News, Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. Dorothy loved her family, her Emblem Club Sisters and her many cats over the years. She will be missed very much by Meeko. No cat in her neighborhood would go without lots of love, food and a warm place. Dorothy was able to remain in her home because of the love and loyalty of her children and their families. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11 am in Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin.
