Doris Smart

Tilton, NH Mrs. Doris A. Smart, 85, of Tilton, died on Nov. 10, 2015 at her daughter's home with her family by her side. She was born in Franklin on Jan. 13, 1930 the daughter of William and Emma Mae (Merrill) Woods. Doris was raised in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1948. She was a resident of Tilton for many years. Several years ago, she worked for Dr. Robert Terhune, DDS and later for the State Of NH DMV in Concord for 12 years. She lastly worked as Administrative Asst. at Merrimack County Nursing Home prior to retiring. Over the years Doris was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader in Franklin, a volunteer at the Tilton Junior Review Board, and a substitute at the Tilton Town Clerk's office. Doris loved gardening, travelling, sewing, and puttering around the house. She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren; Family members include her daughter, Jennie Partridge and her husband Bob of Tilton, grandchildren: Kellie (Riberdy) Allen and husband Ryan Allen of Tilton, and Thea Nash and her husband Mark of Meredith, 5 great grandchildren: Jordan Riberdy, Katherine Allen, Eli Allen, Logan Nash, and Emily Nash, her brother, Robert Woods of Saugus, MA, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, David Stanghellini, and her second husband, William F. Smart, Jr., brothers Raymond and Irving Woods, and sisters, Madeline Finnigan, Leora Michel, and Genevieve Johnson. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at 10 am with burial following in Franklin Cemetery.
