OBITUARY Hampton, NH Donald E. Hinkle, Jr., 88, formerly of Hampton, died at NH Veterans Home in Tilton on Nov. 16, 2012. Mr. Hinkle was born in Altoona, PA the son of Donald E. Hinkle, Sr. and Minerva (Marlin) Hinkle. He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg (PA) High School. Mr. Hinkle resided in New Hampshire for over 47 years. He served in the US Air Force for 26 years as Chief Master Sgt. He was formerly stationed in England, France, Germany, the Philippines, Japan, and throughout the US lastly at Pease Air Force Base where he was food service superintendent. Mr. Hinkle was the recipient of several awards including four Commendation Medals. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was food service instructor at Portsmouth High School. Family includes his wife of 50 years, Claire (Rodgers) Hinkle of Hampton, 3 children, Barbara Hinkle of Cumberland, VA, Dr. Robert Hinkle and his wife Valerie of Yorktown, VA, and Richard Hinkle and his wife Elizabeth of Blanchester, OH, 2 grandchildren, Eric Hinkle and Emily Hinkle, 4 sisters: Shirley Shoenfelt of Shippensburg, PA, Barbara Hinkle of French Creek, WV, Audrey Clark of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Minerva Hart of Pinellas Park, FL, and a brother, Paul Hinkle of Hollidaysburg, PA. He was predeceased by a brother, William Hinkle and a sister, Ellen Merritts. Services are private and interment will be in NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
