Biography Donald Sidney Fentiman Donald Sidney Fentiman, 89, of Franklin, New Hampshire, formerly of Pembroke and Schenectady, New York, passed away on January 28, 2015 at the Peabody Home. He was born Sept. 25, 1925 in Washington, DC to Mary (Fisher) Fentiman and Sidney James Fentiman. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Ruth Fentiman Dove, and her husband, Charles Dove, Sr., his cousin, Margaret Long May, and his niece, Sharon Dove, as well as his aunts and uncles. Don graduated from McKinley High School and American University in Washington, DC. After his marriage to Janet Reid Ralph, they moved to Schenectady, NY and raised three daughters, Linda, Sandy, and Donna Fentiman. He worked his entire career for the General Electric Company as a sales engineer, finishing in the Gas Turbine Division. His work involved travel not only within the US but to Kwajalein (Marshall Islands), Europe and Australia. Don was an avid tennis player and an aviation enthusiast, who took flying lessons and sometimes accompanied pilots in the cockpit during quiet business flights. He enjoyed painting, drawing and sailing. He was also a committed liberal Democrat. Don married Jean Pound Davis in 1973 and was a father to her two children, Karen and John, in Niskayuna. Following his retirement in 1986, he and Jean moved to Loon Lake, NY, Punta Gorda, FL and New London, NH before settling in Pembroke in 2002. He is survived by Jean Fentiman, his beloved wife of 41 years; daughters Linda Fentiman (Arthur E. Levine), Sandy Fentiman (Alice Kenly), Donna Fentiman (Richard Walba), Karen Goulet (David) and son, John Davis (Jennifer). He also leaves eight grandchildren: Jamie Levine, Rachel Levine, Weston Fentiman Fellows (Brijan), Dale Fentiman Fellows (Tess), Lauren Rich, Emily Goulet, Andrew Goulet, and Paul Davis; four nephews, Charles Dove, Jr., William Turner, Jr., James Turner and Charles Turner; and a great-grandson, Riley Weston Fellows. The family gratefully thanks Dr. M. Jonathan Mishcon and all of the staff and volunteers at the Peabody Home and Franklin Hospice for their kindness and care. There will be a celebration of Don's life, to be announced later, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Thibault-Neun Funeral Home in Franklin. The family asks that any gifts in Don's memory be given to Peabody Home, The Sierra Club Foundation or The Adirondack Council.
