Sanbornton, NH Cynthia J. (Laughy) Merchant, 55, of Sanbornton, died at her home on Sept. 18, 2012. Cindy was born in Franklin on Dec.27, 1956 the daughter of James E. Laughy III and Anita (Laroche) Laughy. She resided in Franklin during her childhood before moving to Sanbornton. She graduated from St. Mary School and attended Winnisquam Regional High School. Cindy and her husband Rickey built a farm on 47 acres of land in Sanbornton, where they raised beef cattle and other farm animals. Cindy worked part time while the children were growing up to be there for them. Besides the farm, greenhouse, Christmas trees, fruit and vegetable stand and the beef cattle, pigs, and chickens, and her beautiful flowers she worked at her house- keeping business. She also worked at the Sanbornton Central school hot lunch program for some time, she loved making baskets for Martha Wetherbee of Sanbornton, she was a part time rural mail carrier for eight years, she also worked part time most recently at the Merrimack County Nursing home Cafe, She served as alternate on the Sanbornton planning board, and served at voter registration in Sanbornton at voting time. Most of all she was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was truly loved in this life and will be missed by all who knew her. Family members include her husband of 38 years, Rickey V. Merchant of Sanbornton, 2 daughters: Amy L. Skeats and April M. Merchant, both of Sanbornton, 4 grandchildren, Mackenzie Skeats, Macayla Skeats, Madisyn Skeats, and Sean Doherty, her father, James E. Laughy III and his wife, Ruth, her sister, Anna & husband Bob Morrison of Sanbornton, 2 brothers, James "Skip" & wife Richelle Laughy IV and Patrick & wife Roxanne Laughy, both of Sanbornton, and nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was predeceased by her mother, Anita Laughy who died in 2002 and a brother, Timothy Laughy who died in 1986. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Sept. 21st from 6-8 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning (Sept. 22nd) at 11 am in St. Paul Church, School St., Franklin. Burial will be private.
