It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Jane Lloyd of Franklin NH, on January 31, 2024, in Boston. Cindy was born in Barre, Vermont on August 24th, 1951, to Walter and Joyce Petell. She was a loving, devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Cindy graduated from Laconia High School, class of 1969, and chose to dedicate her life to the medical profession. She graduated from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 as a Registered Nurse and then began a career that would span 44 years at that facility. She was one of the first nurses to work in a newly created day surgery unit called the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) which is still an integral part of Concord Hospital today. Some of her favorite pastimes were tending to her multiple flower gardens, feeding the many birds that frequented the backyard (especially cardinals and bluebirds), or just floating in the pool with a good book on a sunny summer afternoon. Cindy also loved trips to the Caribbean Islands or Cancun, where she could walk the beach, visit the swim-up bar or just relax. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Donald Lloyd, son James Lloyd, his wife Karen, and their children Henry and Olivia of Dracut Massachusetts, son Charles Lloyd and his wife Amy of Bow NH, and son Jonathan Lloyd and his wife Caroline, daughters Allyson, Ally, and Madison of Hill, NH. Cindy also leaves behind Her brother Bruce Petell and his wife Diane of Bristol, NH, David Petell and wife Linda of Center Harbor NH, Linda Petell Roberts of Eaton, NH, and Betty Thurston and her husband David from Tustin CA, and sister-in-law Alice Petell of Laconia NH, nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Cindy was pre-deceased by her father Walter Petell, mother Joyce Petell, and brothers Richard and Larry. A celebration of Cindy's life will be held at the Merrimack Valley Railroad Company Function Hall, 5 Park Street, Northfield NH on Thursday, February 8th from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Payson Center for Cancer Care at Concord Hospital or a cardiac research charity in Cindy's name.
