Christina Melick, of Franklin, NH, died December 25, 2023, with loved ones at her bedside.
She is the daughter of Jack and Martha Melick, and younger sister to Charles, George (deceased) and Jeff. Her family had roots in the Mid-West.
She leaves behind her partner of twenty-five years, Laurence Anderson, her brothers, Chuck (Marcia) Melick of Atlanta, and three nieces, and Jeff (Clare) Melick of Roanoke, former spouse, Richard Ouellett, of California, and his brother, Thomas (Elaine) Ouellett and their three daughters.
Her father wanted the family to experience "farm life" and they purchased a small, Mid-West apple orchard. The young children would make childhood memories of earning their allowances selling apples and concord grapes from a fruit stand, along with selling chicken eggs.
The family moved, at the end of the 50's, from Chicago to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Chris's first love was exploring the beauty and serenity of nature. Her love began with camping adventures as a young girl. As a teenager she attended Voyageur Outward Bound School in Minnesota's Boundary Waters where she learned canoeing and survival skills. As a young adult she hiked in the Mid-Atlantic section of the Appalachian Trail. She enjoyed solo-hiking and camping under the stars of the Tucson Mountains or the base of Mount Shasta. As an adult she hiked the New Hampshire White Mountains, biked a five-day tour of Colorado's mountains, and spent a week kayaking the wild fjord of the Saguenay River in Quebec.
Of course, love of her days being part of the aerobic dance craze for thirty years, she never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a good workout.
After sampling college majors of fashion design, philosophy, pre-nursing and physical therapy she surprisingly opted for a BS in accounting and become a CPA. She worked for two Concord firms. She enjoyed working and collaborating with her co-workers and clients.
Chris followed the teachings of an Eastern Meditation Leader, whose wisdom was her "true north”. Feeling blessed, despite daunting challenges, her joy-filled mind-set was always to “go with life’s flow!” and to ask, “why not me?”
One of her most recent goals achieved was to raise and train a therapy dog, her beloved lab “Willie”, to give back to healthcare for all of the support shown to her during treatment of her sarcoma.
