Charles Edwin Hanson, 95, of Franklin, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday Morning, March 11, 2024, at Laconia Rehabilitation Center, Laconia, NH, surrounded by family.

Charles was born on June 15, 1928, in Amherst, NH, at the Horace Greeley Birthplace to Edwin Samuel Hanson and Arlene Mearl (Palmer) Hanson. He was predeceased by his parents, his four sisters, and two brothers.

Charles is survived by his wife of 73 years, Henrietta (Rockwell) Hanson; five children, Sharleen Ely and her husband, David of Lebanon, MO, Beverly Chamberlain and her fiancé, Henry Heath of Henniker, NH, Donald Hanson and his wife, Judith of Malone, NY, Brenda Goodearl and her husband, Robert of Franklin, NH, and Wendy Mansfield and her husband, Scott of Franklin, NH; Eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; plus many more who called him grandpa; several nieces and nephews; and a large network of friends.

Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, worked in a lumber yard logging, and worked for many years in construction.

Charles enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Celtics games, woodworking, puzzles, and spending time with his large family and many friends. He liked to tell jokes and sing ditties to everyone.

Burial with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring.
