Arthur St. Jacques

OBITUARY Franklin, NH Mr. Arthur J. St. Jacques, 86, of Franklin, died at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen on Sept. 10, 2011. He was born in Laconia on May 5, 1925 the son of Joseph and Laurianna (Hebert) St. Jacques. He lived in Franklin for many years where he attended St. Mary School and Franklin schools. He later attended Keene State College and Ripaldi School of Real Estate in Concord. During World War II, Arthur served in the US Navy aboard submarine tender USS Proteus throughout the Pacific. He was later employed for 28 yrs. at Acme Staple Co. retiring in 1987 as a supervisor. He also was a Justice of the Peace, a driver education instructor, and a real estate salesman. For many years, he volunteered at NH Veterans Home in Tilton and the VA Medical Center in Manchester. He was a life member and past officer of Franklin VFW Post #1698, and a life member of the Whiteman-Davidson American Legion Post #49. Mr. St. Jacques was a member of former governor of the Laconia Moose Lodge and life member of Franklin Lodge of Elks #1280. He was a member of the Lakes Region Management Club and The Submarine Veterans of World War II. He was a member and past Seam Squirrel of Pup Tent #8 of the Military Order of the Cooties and also received the CCDB award. Arthur was a member of Franklin Fire Dept. Engine Co. 1 for 28 years retiring as Captain in 1987. He was a founder, member, and former President of the Franklin Veterans Firefighters Assn. and honorary life member of the State Fireman's Assn. Arthur was most happy spending time with his family and they were his greatest love. He was a communicant of St. Mary of The Assumption Church in Tilton. Family members include his wife of 60 years, Eva (Racine) St. Jacques of Franklin, his daughter, LoriAnn St. Jacques and her husband Phil Pishette of Bedford, his son, Arthur A. St. Jacques and his wife Heidi of Andover, 2 grandchildren: Charles Joseph St. Jacques and Kellie Jean St. Jacques, both of Andover, a sister, Doris Greenfield of Canterbury, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Benjamin, Armand, Joseph, Robert, and Maurice St. Jacques. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 10 am in St. Mary of The Assumption Church, Chestnut St., Tilton. There are no visiting hours. Burial will be in NH Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Arthur may be made to NH Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276 or to Franklin Fire Dept. Rescue Squad, 59 W.
