Andrew R. Clark

d. January 14, 2021

TILTON - Andrew "Gunny" Clark, 91, a resident of the New Hampshire State Veteran's Home, passed into eternal life, on his birthday, Thursday, January 14, 2021.  He was born in Franklin, the son of Evelyn (Bourdeau) and Phillip Clark. A 1948 graduate of Franklin High School, he enlisted  in the National Guard & the U.S. Marines Corps and Reserves. He proudly served his Country between 1950 and 1972, during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War before retiring as a Gunnery Sargent.

Andy loved to tell stories of his parents whom he loved very much, his happy childhood and military adventures. A humble man, most didn't know of his numerous awards, medals, commendations, citations and ribbons throughout his twenty-two years as a United States Marine, including earning the Combat Action Ribbon for serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars (3 tours).

Following his military retirement, he returned home to Franklin where he was employed by the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission as a Regional Store Supervisor for twenty years. Andy enjoyed the simpler things in life like long walks, time at the beach, gardening, bird watching, football, decorating for the Christmas season and spending time with family & friends. He especially loved becoming a grandfather, where he became our beloved "Nandy."  He served on the Pastoral Council at Saint Paul's Church in Franklin, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was an usher at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord. He loved running the annual liquor basket raffle for the church fair.  A generous man, he sponsored students at St. Mary's school for years.   He was also a member of the Laconia Foreign War Veteran's Group.

For the past 6 years he was lovingly cared for by the amazing staff at the NH Veteran's Home as he battled the final war of his life with Alzheimer's Disease.  A good-natured man, he never complained & faced the disease with tremendous courage.  Once a Marine, always a Marine.  God speed, Andy!

Andy is predeceased by his wife of nearly 25 years, Gloria (Swift) Clark, his mother, father & three sisters: Viola Foote, Marguerite Rainville and Marion Dame.  He is survived by stepson, Jonathan Halle and his wife Lorie of Concord; stepdaughter Carol Beauchemin and husband Alden of Newbury; five grandchildren, Reid, Cole, Elise, Garrett and Briar; nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours due to Covid-19 restrictions. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Parish in Concord, April 30th at 1:00 p.m. with graveside burial immediately following at 3 PM at the New Hampshire State Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
