It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice M. Berry, a beloved sister, devoted homemaker, and cherished member of her community. Alice passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born in Tilton, New Hampshire on Friday, July 15th, 1938, Alice was the daughter of the late Albert Verrill and Pearl Florence (Ricker) Verrill. She was the devoted wife of the late Carl G. Cate and Eugene R. Berry. Preceding her in death were her son Anthony, her sister Peggy Martel and brother George Verrill.
Alice spent her formative years in Tilton before eventually making her home in Laconia, NH. She was employed at the MICA shop in Franklin and Tilton Endless Belt earlier in her career before dedicating her life to her family and home.
An active community member, Alice was deeply involved with the Wicwas Lake Grange in Meredith, where she found joy and purpose. Her commitment extended to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1670 in Laconia and the American Legion Post 49 Ladies Auxiliary in Northfield. Her devout Catholic faith was a guiding light in her life, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Alice is survived by her loving sisters, Louise Blocker and Elsie Sanborn, and her dear and close friends, Matthew and Margaret Tetreault.
A graveside service will be held in her honor at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Alice’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wicwas Lake Grange, a place that held a special place in Alice’s heart.
