Ace Carignan, also known as “Sonny” in is younger years, passed away peacefully on August 29, just days shy of his 92nd birthday. Born on September 4, 1933, in Northfield, NH, he was the only son of Alfred and Sadie Carignan,
“Ace” was a1952 graduate of Franklin High School and briefly attended Tilton Preperatory School before entering the United States Air Force. He would serve from 1953 until 1957 and was stationed in Arizona, Texas, Montana, Hawaii, North Dakota, Newfoundland, Germany, and Africa.
He was employed by the A&P Grocery Store Chain for 38 years before his retirement and then worked part time for 17 years for Sanel Auto Parts.
An accomplished skier, fisherman, and avid golfer (thus the nickname, “Ace” for his Holes in One), he loved the New Hampshire outdoors.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Irene Nedeau Carignan; and his stepchildren Gary and Kathleen Nedeau.
He is survived by his two stepchildren, Judy (Charlie) Johnson of Harrisville, NH and Deborah (Jim) Rivers of Contoocook, NH.
He also leaves grandchildren, Lindsay, Courtney, Becki, Stephanie and Stephen, and great grandchildren, Cody, Wiley, Oliver, Bridger, Ramsey, Copeland, Elijah and Abram, whom he adored and spent many special times with.
Graveside services will be held at the Holy Cross cemetery in Franklin, NH at 11 AM on September 23, 2025.
