Adolph "Al" J. Buczynski, 88, of Andover, MA, died at his home on March 12, 2013. Al was born in Northfield on July 15, 1924 the son of John and Ludwicka (Pickarz) Buczynski. He attended local schools and graduated from Tilton-Northfield High School. He later continued his schooling at Lowell Institute/MIT in Mechanical Engineering, Boston University, and Northeastern University for engineering. He also studied at Lowell University, MIT and Merrimack College. Al earned two Master's Degrees in engineering. He was a member of the Computer Graphics Society, Numerical Control Society, and Association of Manufacturing Engineers. Al never gave up the drive for a warm family home, many friends, and advancement in his chosen professional career of engineering. He worked at AVCO for 21 years in Bridgeport, CT and Wilmington, MA. He began as a machining instructor, then advanced into spacecraft developments. He assisted in the design and building of missile nose cones, payloads, and decoys of spacecrafts, launching payloads from Cape Canaveral, White Sands, NM, Green River, UT, and Vandenberg AFB in California where he was base manager. While at AVCO, he developed computer aided machining and inspection techniques featured in American Machinist. He later worked at GTE Laboratories in Waltham, MA at the Technical Computation Center providing application expertise to operations worldwide. After being promoted to Supervisor, he specialized in Computer Graphics and Scientific Visualization having his work featured in Computer World Graphics. He spent many hours in community service to AVIS (Andover Village Improvement Society) Warden for the 37 acre reservation. He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church in North Reading. Family members include his twin daughters: Mary Louise Patterson and her husband Lee, and Louise Ann Piskadlo Smallwood and her husband Michael, grandchildren: Shelly Lynn Patterson Illingsworth, Ryan Lee Patterson, and Robert Michael Piskadlo, six great grandchildren: John, Kayla, Robert, Alissa, Alexis, and Jacob, his sister, Irene Fuller and her husband Ralph, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Simpson) Buczynski who died in 2006, and brothers Eugene, Joseph, and Michael, and a sister, Louise. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 17th from 2-5:00 pm at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 18th at 10 am at Assumption Church, Chestnut St., Tilton. Spring burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
