Gary H. Plourde

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Plourde, who left this world peacefully on January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 21, 1953, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to Bruno and Rita Plourde (née DeNauw), Gary was a man of honor, kindness, and unwavering faith. A proud 20+ year resident of Franklin, New Hampshire, Gary was deeply connected to his community. He worked for the City of Franklin in the Grounds and Maintenance department, dedicating himself to keeping the town he loved beautiful. Earlier in life, Gary owned and operated “Gary’s Canteen,” a beloved food truck that brought smiles and good food to the area. A man of faith and service, Gary was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he built strong bonds and supported charitable causes close to his heart. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1280. Gary was the devoted husband of Marilyn Plourde (née Rusek), with whom he shared a life of love and partnership. He was a proud father to Jonathan (Jen) Plourde, Jenn Kastick, and Mark Kastick, and the cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, Tess Sumner, Tucker Sumner, Collin Plourde, and Brady Plourde. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and joy in their company. An outdoorsman at heart, Gary loved fishing, camping, and taking long drives in his truck, always with country music playing in the background. He was never without his cup of coffee—always with half-and-half. Sundays were reserved for family dinners, a tradition he treasured and that brought everyone together. He also had a soft spot for desserts, particularly those made by his granddaughter, and never hesitated to try them, even when they were “healthy.” Known for his warm spirit and kind heart, Gary touched the lives of everyone who knew him and lived his life with integrity and love. The family invites loved ones to join in celebrating Gary’s life and the joy he brought to others. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home in Franklin, New Hampshire. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 30th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish in Belmont, New Hampshire. A private family burial will be at a later date.
